Call for Project Proposals on SIMULATOR PLATFORM FOR SAFE DRIVING IN INDIAN ROAD CONDITIONS

(Closing Date: 10th April 2024)

Introduction

IHub-Data is seeking proposals for research projects in the field of mobility simulator platform for safe driving in Indian road conditions. The goal of this call is to develop methodologies and technological solutions on the driving simulator platform.

With an aim to shed light on key challenges, innovative solutions, and ongoing efforts to enhance road safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The simulator will be developed to be more realistic and cater to unstructured Indian scenarios. Opening the simulator platform to collaborative research from various institutes and organizations will ensure rapid development and the emergence of key solutions in following areas.

Topics include, but are not restricted to the following:

  1. Simulator platform
  2. Various driving behavioural studies to be conducted on our simulator platform, such as driver cognitive behaviour analysis, driver training, driving style recognition, and road safety analysis

  3. AR/VR and Simulator APIs
  4. Provide APIs built around our simulator platform which may include test cases for Indian driving conditions, AR/VR heads up display, and driver attention and monitoring.

  5. Vision-based driving systems
  6. Perception to planning algorithms, environment perception modules, driving scene generation algorithms tailored to the Indian context in areas such as synthetic scene generation, digital twin, SD/HD maps generation, and neural rendering 3D scenarios and assets.

  7. Multi-agent planning
  8. Research related to Indian traffic routing, flow scheduling, and collision avoidance, mixed agent (v to v) planning, control algorithms, especially using reinforcement learning and LLM-guided gene

Why Should You Apply?

  • To get funding support for mobility simulator work
  • To see the impact of your research in building a large simulator system
  • To have access to academic experts, computing, and innovation ecosystem at IIIT-H
  • Research teams for solving real-world problems

Duration, Funding, and Submission Date

IHub-Data Mobility seeks proposals from you, get them reviewed by an expert team, and invite shortlisted teams to present their ideas to our expert team before selecting for funding.

  • Project duration: 1 year
  • Funding limits: Upto 10 lakhs
  • Application deadline: 10th April 2024, 11:59 PM

Expected Outcomes

  • Translational Research leading to a system prototype
  • Developed prototypes or products must be quickly deployable, plug and play
  • Prototypes, products and publications
  • Working model, clean source code, and complete documentation

The key activity to be conducted as part of this CFP must be on Indian Driving Simulator Research. It is expected that at the close of the project, well-documented design, methods, results, and well-documented clean code is submitted to I-Hub. In case of any hardware device development, a complete list of components used, and their connectivity should be clearly mentioned for the reproducibility of the products. IHub-funding should be acknowledged appropriately in demos and publications. On successful completion at the end of one year, few promising projects would be considered for additional funding over another year.

Instructions

The detailed project proposal should clearly outline the following in sections such as problem, solution, data, impact, the potential for commercialization, resources, timelines, budget, and biodata of PIs in the online form. PIs should be ready to demonstrate the prototype in their presentation if shortlisted for presentation.

Guidelines to submit the proposal

  1. The proposal can be submitted, either individually or in collaboration, by Principal Investigator (PI) from Academia or by Project Leader (PL) on behalf of the industry.
  2. Project proposal has to be submitted in the prescribed format provided.
  3. The application must be submitted only through the Google form.
  4. The applicant from Academia (PI)/Industry (PL) must submit an Endorsement Letter from their parent organization.
  5. Applicants with collaborators (Co-PIs) from Academia and Industry must submit endorsement letters from all the participating entities.
  6. The support under the program will be provided based on the review of project proposals submitted.
  7. The decision of TIH-IHub in this regard will be final and binding.
